oh baby here comes the touhorse "Vermilion Fate" & "Perfect Time", aka Remilia Scarlet and Izayoi Sakuya from Touhou Project Bait: Sweetie Belle (Remi) and Pinkie Pie (Sakuya) Hair: Water Nixie (Remi) and Raincloud (Sakuya) Commissioned by
Hey guys check this out
VERMILION.
is a type of red.
and it also kind of sounds like
wait for it
REMILIA.
I KNOW RIGHT
I'm so excited these two finally got done This was the first Touhorse commission I ever received, but not the first one I made, for a number of ever-changing reasons. Thanks for sticking with me, DHYohko.
So here is child-vampire Remilia with her maid/consigliere Sakuya, except (TWIST!) as ponies. The commissioner wanted the customs to resemble the first drawings of the Touhorses, including having Sakuya's eyes closed in elegant compliance. Though the red wings on Remilia were his own personal preference, and they look pretty darn good.
This would not be the first time I chopped Sweetie Belle's horn off and added wings for a Touhorse. Since Remi's wings are substantially large and narrow, I threaded a paper clip through holes in her back and used it as a support for the wings (though I think I did that for Cirno too). Nothing about Sakuya's construction was particularly interesting, though I did have to poke a lot more hair holes (her Pinkie bait does not have bangs).
Accessories are sculpted with Apoxie Sculpt. Painted with Apple Barrel/Folk Art acrylics and sealed with Mod Podge Matte and Testors Dullcote spray. Eyes and accessories are topped off with Liquitex gloss medium. Rehaired with Dollyhair and boil-styled.
just a size 0 liner brush and a steady hand. A lot of custom makers just lay down a line and make do with it, but I paint back into my lines to shape them, which if done right can get you pretty good results without needing a super-thin brush.
Remi's eyes are exactly how i like them, Imizu style, and yea, exactly as expected. just a shame it's nigh imposible to have sakuya bowing like in your original but alas.
still waiting to see how your drawing is progressing
...actually it's funny you say that because they just came out with ponies that have raised hooves, and I got one right after I finished yours. It looks just like the curtsy.
still waiting to see how your drawing is progressing
Ah, well.
