Custom Pony - "Sunnyside" aka Utsuho aka Okuu from Touhou Project, with pet Yatagarasu "Prometheus"

Finished pictures of Utsuho-pony aka Sunnyside (yay sun/egg puns) and her yatagarasu friend, Prometheus!  So glad I got to make a custom of one of my favorite touhous, and I'm happy with her little pet birdy as well.

So unlike the alicorn Okuu in my Subterranean Equinism picture, this custom is of Okuu in her default pegasus form, the way she looks when not using her nuclear sun powers.  Said powers of course come from the yatagarasu, aka the Divine Three-legged Sun Crow thingie sitting beside her, whom I've named "Prometheus" and designed as kind of a counterpart to Equestria's Philomena the phoenix.  I imagine they chill out together most of the time and when Okuu needs a power boost, she devours him a la FLCL and spits him out later (illustration of this process found here).

Making "Sunnyside" herself was more straightforward than originally expected.  The bait was a Twilight Sparkle head with a pegasus body, with the wings cut down to stubs to accommodate the large Celestia wings.  Because Utsuho is a raven that attained human form (bear with me non-touhou fans, shit gets complicated sometimes), I wanted to keep some avian features on pony-Utsuho and since pegasi already have wings, I decided to give her...really really big wings.  So I was originally braced for a buttload of sculpting.  But fortunately by the time I got around to this commission I already had some big wings left over from the Yukaricorn, so all I had to do was stick 'em on and add some Apoxie Sculpt around the seams.  The only other sculpted component was the hair bow, which attaches to her mane via an embedded paper clip.  I gave her crazy bird eyes and rehaired her with a blend of black-dyed, Hematite and Amethyst hair, which not only extended the limited amount of black-dyed hair available, but also gave it a little purpley sheen, like real raven plumage.  I curled and shredded her mane to make it look shaggy and unruly, and maybe even a little singed.  Just comes with living around suns and hellfire.

Prometheus the sun crow was my first customized pet, made from the parrot that came with Feathermay.  I whittled its head and tail down to nubs and sculpted over them to get the shapes I wanted.  It's hard to see his three legs because of his sitting position, but I added an extra foot in the middle so he has all nine toes in the front.  He's got three eyes and fiery wings as well.  I have quite a few plastic pony pets on hand (including Spike!) and quite a few of them would make good customs.  If you're interested, you may consider adding one to your custom pony order.

wow,great custom pony!
If not a trade secret,which paint did you use to paint? I have tried acrylics to paint a lyra one but it ended up like a mess :P
And,how do you get the hair and which material do you use to sculpt things you need? (sorry for a lot of questions,don't wanna sacrifice another pony,and i really like your work xD)

aha, all of that is an open trade secret :D somewhere in my gallery is an FAQ for custom making with a list of supplies and stuff. i think its up to date.
